A few days ago we discussed the installation of the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS office. Today we will show you with screenshots how to install the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server. If you already have an Ubuntu 18.04 LTS server, you can easily upgrade to an Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server. If you don’t want to upgrade, but want to reinstall the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS server on your computer, this guide is for you!
Ubuntu 20.04 LTSmake boat drive
Download here the latest server version of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and create a bootable USB stick using one of the programs below.
Installing Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Server
Boot the system with the newly created bootable USB stick. You will be recorded on the next screen. Select a language and press ENTER to continue.
Then choose your preferred keyboard layout or select the Set Keyboard option to select the layout automatically. After selecting a keyboard layout, select Done and press ENTER.
Then configure at least one network interface card to allow this server to communicate with other systems in the network. If you have a DHCP server in your network, the IP address is automatically assigned to all available interfaces. If you do not need an automatic IP address, select the network interface using the UP/DOWN arrow and configure the IP address manually. After specifying the network settings, select Done and press ENTER to continue.
If your Ubuntu server is behind a proxy server, you must enter your proxy server data here. Otherwise, just leave it empty and press the ENTER key to continue.
Then you have to configure the mirror of the Ubuntu archive. The default mirror is automatically selected for you. If you do not want to use the default mirror, enter the mirror address here and press ENTER to continue.
Then set the hard disk partitioning, i.e. place your hard disk on partitions. You can choose between different tractors. Choose one of the proposed classification methods that suits you.
- Use the whole plate: This method removes the entire hard disk and divides it automatically. Recommended for beginners. If you choose this option, you can install LVM and encode the LVM configuration with LUKS.
- Customizable storage schedule : Here advanced and experienced users can manually configure the partitions of their choice.
After configuring the memory, select Done and press ENTER to continue.
Look at the current configuration of the file system. If you don’t mind, press ENTER to continue or go back and reconfigure the yard as you wish.
Select Continue and press ENTER to save the changes to the hard drive.
Now enter information about your server system, such as your name, server name, username and password that you use to login to the server. Press ENTER to continue.
You can then choose to install an openSSH server, which allows you to remotely access this server from any system on the network. Press the space bar to select/deselect. If you don’t do it now, you can install it later, when the installation is complete. SSH is important to access the Ubuntu server from anywhere, so I choose it. Press ENTER to continue.
Then select a list of snap-in features available for your Ubuntu system. They are installed at the same time as the Ubuntu server. Select or deselect them using the Space bar function. Press ENTER to display more information about the instant application. It’s optional, and you can do it later.
The installation of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS will now begin. This will take some time, depending on the choice of package and the speed of the internet.
After the successful installation of the Ubuntu LTS 20.04, restart the Ubuntu LTS 20.04 server to complete the installation.
Congratulations! The LTS Ubuntu 20.04 server is ready to use!
I hope this helps.
Thank you so much for coming!
